Physiotherapy Case Studies
A look at some of the people we have worked with, the challenges they brought to physiotherapy, and the progress they reported along the way.
Every person’s recovery is different. These individual experiences do not predict or guarantee the results of treatment for anyone else.
Sciatica & Spinal Stenosis
Lumbar SpineLower back pain and sciatic symptoms running into the right thigh were making everyday movement uncomfortable. Imaging showed spinal stenosis.
As rehabilitation progressed, this patient reported less back pain and fewer sciatic symptoms. Everyday activities became easier, including getting back to cutting the grass.
Shin Fracture Rehabilitation
Leg RehabilitationAfter fracturing his shin near the knee while running, this patient began rehabilitation in a hinged knee brace. We worked step by step on strength, balance and movement control, with a return to running as his goal.
Over time, he returned to running without pain and resumed cross-country participation. Rehabilitation also focused on his running movement as he prepared to return to track and field.
Sciatica & Walking Function
Lumbar Spine / SciaticaSciatic pain from the left buttock down to the foot and ankle was making walking difficult. This patient came to the clinic looking for help moving more comfortably.
At the last visit after roughly 6 weeks of therapy, he reported being able to walk and jog without his earlier symptoms. His ongoing goals included building strength and confidence in movement.
ACL Reconstruction Rehabilitation
Post-Operative Knee RehabilitationFollowing ACL reconstruction and lateral meniscus repair, this patient was experiencing knee pain during longer walks. Rehabilitation focused on working toward his walking and running goals.
By the end of his rehabilitation, he had met his goals and reported no pain with walking or running.
Patellar Tendon Repair Rehabilitation
Post-Operative Knee RehabilitationAfter patellar tendon repair, this patient worked toward rebuilding movement and returning to physically demanding work.
His walking, weight distribution and posture improved during rehabilitation. He returned to work and progressed to boxing-related exercises.
Upper Body & Neck Pain
Upper Body / NeckNeck, shoulder and upper-body pain, along with tingling and numbness in the hand, were affecting everyday activities. Even walking the dog could aggravate symptoms.
At the last visit after roughly 6 weeks of therapy, she reported less pain and improved ability to manage daily activities. Hand tingling and numbness also decreased, although these symptoms had not fully resolved at that visit.
